FAQS

Everything buyers ask before and after they order. If your question is not here, call 086 452 8730 or email brendan@bkldistribution.ie — we reply within one working day.

Buying & choosing a machine

Tell us what you plan to cut or engrave, the materials and roughly the sizes, and we will recommend the right bed size and wattage. We would rather point you to a smaller machine that suits than oversell you one you do not need.

Yes. We offer demonstrations by appointment. If you cannot travel to us, send us a sample of your material and we will cut or engrave it and send it back so you can see the finish.

No — every machine is quoted with delivery, installation and training for your specific site, so we price each order individually. Request a quote and we come back within one working day.

Our core MIRA S range and popular NOVA models are held in Irish stock and typically deliver within the week. Larger or dual-source configurations may carry a short lead time, which we confirm when you enquire.

Delivery & installation

Yes, we deliver, install and train anywhere in Ireland.

The desktop and benchtop MIRA S machines fit through a standard doorway as they are. The larger industrial NOVA machines are designed to split apart for delivery, pass through a standard door, and reassemble on your floor. We check access with you before dispatch.

A suitable power supply, somewhere to route the exhaust to outside air, and clear access. We run through all of this with you during the site check before we dispatch, so there are no surprises on delivery day.

We install and commission it ourselves — positioned, levelled, optics checked, extraction connected, software configured — then train you on your own materials. You make your first cuts before we leave.

Using the machine

All machines run RDWorks, included as standard, and are fully compatible with LightBurn (optional), which most users prefer. They work with design files from CorelDRAW, Illustrator and AutoCAD, on Windows and Mac.

No. Training on install day covers everything you need to run your first real jobs, and we provide a tested settings library for common Irish materials to get you earning quickly. You can ring us with questions afterwards.

CO2 lasers cut and engrave acrylic, timber, plywood, MDF, leather, paper, card, foamex, rubber and more, and engrave coated metals, glass, slate and stone. They do not cut bare metal — ask us if metal marking is a requirement and we will advise.

Yes. Laser cutting produces fumes that must be vented to outside air or through a suitable filter. Every machine has a built-in exhaust fan; you provide the route to outside, which we help you plan.

Yes. Chiller, exhaust and air assist are built into every machine — there are no external boxes, pumps or plumbing to buy or install.

Schools & business

Yes. They are fully enclosed Class 1 laser products with lid and side-panel interlocks that cut the laser if opened, CE certified and FDA approved. They are widely used in supervised school and college settings.

Yes. We supply on purchase order and provide formal written quotations, specifications and safety documentation for procurement and board approval. Tell us your timeline and we will work on it.

Warranty & support

One year on the machine and parts, and six months on the laser tube. Full terms are on our Terms of Warranty page.

Ring or email us. Many issues are quick fixes we can talk you through, helped by the machine’s smart diagnostics. Where parts are needed, we hold consumables and common spares in Ireland. You are dealing with the same business that installed the machine, not an overseas queue.

Yes — lenses, mirrors, tubes, belts and other consumables are held in Ireland. Contact us to order.
